No present for your mother’s 70th birthday? Paint a self-portrait! Back then I painted this picture in my old studio and also took the reference material via self-timer photos in front of the white wall. At the time, this was the starting point for painting more confidently, developing loose brushstrokes and boldly setting large shapes.
